Kindergarten Competition, Armenia

This project emphasizes the importance of a kindergarten structure, from the point of view of manifesting children’s potential. We have designed an innovative system of functionally interconnected modular buildings that are united by the inner yard. This modular structure offers the adaptivity and flexibility to expand the nursery seamlessly, without compromising its functional harmony.
The structure consists of five blocks that each belong to diverse age groups. All five blocks face the inner courtyard that is the central meeting and communication hub for children, nannies and parents. It is furnished with playgrounds, swings, swimming pools, small platforms for drawing with chalk on the floor, pet care and a garden for growing plants.
The blocks have the shape of a house. The goal was to create a sense of security and interest in the home-like environment in any child. On the first floor of the two-story blocks are the playing and sleeping areas. From here, it is possible to go up to the second floor with stairs reminiscent of the amphitheater, where we have placed an alternative and closed zone for playing. Among the components that excite children are the tubular staircases extending from the second floor to the inner courtyard.
