COAF school new building competition, Armavir, Armenia

This project proposal is intended for the COAF /Children Of Armenia Fund competition for the new smart center projects in Armavir. Our objective was to maintain the style of the Lori Smart Center while adapting it to the location and creating a distinctive and original style. To achieve this, we focused on incorporating relief and landscape features into the design.
We approached the project by envisioning the building as a living organism that harmoniously integrates with the surrounding terrain. It dynamically evolves and combines various functions through interconnected spaces. At the heart of this “living organism” lies an inner courtyard, serving as a multifunctional hub and central element of the entire structure.
The building’s composition follows a horizontal layout, with contrasting basalt stones adding vibrancy to the monochrome white walls serving as the foundation. Considering the local weather conditions, we incorporated shading grids for both the outdoor areas of the center and the windows to provide adequate protection.
To address the moisture requirements of the area, we incorporated an artificial reservoir that supports the structure and serves multiple purposes. It functions as a rainwater storage facility and also serves as a fish hatchery for educational activities.
