This project is the renovation and revitalization competition proposal of the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art NPAK. As it was important for clients, our project aimed to bring together the old and the new, creating a space that combines functionality, creativity, and human connection. We wanted to provide a place where people can be energized, inspired, and leave with new ideas.
As NPAK is well known for its innovative approach, architecture of the center is designed with purpose and versatility in mind. The façades reflect the activities happening inside, showcasing the real-time creative process and displaying the artworks created within the center.
In addition, as part of our innovative concept, we have designed a movie theater with a specially crafted double-layered screen. This unique feature allows films to be projected both inside the theater and outside, creating an immersive cinematic experience for everyone to enjoy.
Preserving the original architectural identity of the building was important to clients and us as well, as we wanted to establish the center as a leading institution for contemporary art and progressive cultural experiences.
One of the highlights of the center is the inner garden, featuring various levels and specifically chosen sculptures. There is a view of the garden through the glassed library, which also houses a souvenir bookshop and storage for thousands of books. Adjacent to the library, we have designed a café, a bar, and a restaurant.

On the first floor we have designed a reception area, ticket office, wardrobe, lavatories, and waiting rooms. The large exhibition hall on this floor is visible from the outside, inviting passersby to explore the artworks within.
On the second floor we have designed a smaller exhibition hall, an open-air showroom, a lecture room, meeting rooms, workshop rooms, and a 3D printing lab.
On the third floor we have designed a digital playground with an immersive and interactive exhibition hall. The dimensional floors serve as displays for artwork, and there’s an outdoor terrace that transforms into a winter garden.
At the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art, we’ve created a space where art, innovation, and human connection come together. It’s a place for exploration, inspiration, and the celebration of contemporary creativity.
